The Automation Engineer will report to the Team Leader Automation.
This position is mainly focused on Evaporators & Dryers Application Projects inside Business Stream Powder.
You will be required to travel to client sites in up to 35% of your time for meeting & commissioning.
You will be based in Heerenveen, Netherlands.
What you will do
- Design, develop and test the software of PLC/HMI/SCADA control systems for evaporation & drying systems.
- Develop different kind of Production, consumption and utility reports . Knowledge of Basic SQL is added advantages.
- Design Automation hardware/software/panel engineering and associated documentations.
- Participate in design reviews and safety risk assessments, customer FAT
- Testing and commissioning of hardware and software at customer site, (inter) national, for a short or long period of time.
- Design, test and configure control panels, motor control centres, Ethernet networks, ASI/IO-link networks, and pneumatic circuits, for automation systems
- Conduct automation training for customer personnel on the installed systems.
- Be responsible to compile and review all the technical documentation to be included on the project documentation.
- Report to the Project Manager for project & program related tasks including budget control, progress reports & forecasting.
- Create Functional Specifications which can be used by other automation team to develop the software.
- Make programming and specifications in time, with correct quality and at specified cost

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant working procedures, templates, standards etc for Department.
- Manage automation activities on site for installation, commissioning, and performance testing phases
We believe you have
- Degree in Instrumentation /Electrical/ Automation Engineering Or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role preferably in an international environment in similar Food/Process Industry.
- Good knowledge and proven understanding of equipment and processes within the food/dairy industry, preferably in Evaporators & Dryers industry.
- Good knowledge in PLC (Siemens S7/ TIA or Rockwell CLX), SCADAs (Aveva) programming and commissioning.
- Should be able to- independently handle TPPM, Skynet , Optimus and knowledge of SSP.
- Fluent in English in both verbal and in writing, Dutch language will be an added advantage.
